The man who police say shot a process server on July 24 was arraigned Thursday in Tulsa County court.
Chris Barnett appeared in front of a judge via video and was charged with felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as threatening an act of violence.
The process server was shot in the elbow as he walked back to his car.
The judge on Thursday denied Barnett's request to be released from jail. Barnett is still being held without bond.
He will be back in court on Aug. 26.
Barnett says he was startled when he heard a knock on his front door at 9 p.m. at night and saw a man who he didn't know standing on his porch.
"He's pushing on the door, so he's trying to break into my house," Barnett says, adding that he eventually opened the door.
Barnett says he told the man to leave, but he didn't.
Barnett claims that he saw a gun in the process server's pocket, and he saw the man reach for the weapon. At that point, Barnett shot the man in the arm.
